 Andrew MacAskill (Group Leader) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

Andrew is a Professor of Cellular and Systems Neuroscience at UCL, interested in the hippocampus, and its role in value-based decision making. He previously investigated ventral striatal circuitry as a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow at New York University working with Adam Carter. He did his PhD on mitochondria with Jo Kittler at UCL. His undergrad was in Biochemistry (Natural Sciences) at Cambridge University.

Picture
Kristina Valentinova (Postdoctoral Researcher) 🇧🇬

Kristina is studying how ventral hippocampal neurons represent internal states such as hunger, stress and thirst, and how this is used to guide decision making around food.

Picture
Gabrielle Gregoriou (Postdoctoral Researcher) 🇦🇺

Gabi is studying how ventral hippocampal neurons represent latent states during probabilistic decision making, and how these representations are influenced by early life stress

Picture
Maxwell Chen (Graduate Student, MRC Doctoral Training Program) 🇨🇳🇺🇸

Maxwell is studying how neurons in the hippocampus and PFC differentially encode value and structure, and how acetylcholine coordinates their activity.

David Orme (Graduate Student, MRC Doctoral Training Program) 🇬🇧

David is studying how neurons in the hippocampus are organised to allow them to differentially encode value and structure.

Picture
Ella Svahn (Graduate Student, Wellcome Optical Biology PhD Program, joint with Athena Akrami - SWC) 🇸🇪

Ella is investigating neuromodulatory control of decision making under uncertainty

Picture
Svenja Nierwetberg (Graduate Student, SWC PhD Program, joint with Marcus Stephenson-Jones - SWC) 🇩🇪

Svenja is investigating how context can influence upcoming choice, and what role hippocampal circuitry plays in this decision.

Jessica Passlack (Graduate Student, Wellcome Neuroscience PhD Program, joint with Neil Burgess - ICN)

Jessica is interested in the anatomical and computational principles underlying how communication between the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex may be used to support context dependent value based decisions.
